Harris County Municipal Utility District #172 invites the public to a hearing regarding the proposed tax rate for the 2024 tax year. The meeting details are as follows:

The proposed tax rate for this year is $.59000 per $100 of value, a decrease from last year’s rate of $.61800 per $100 of value.

This represents a decrease of 4.53% in the rate, with the average appraised value of a residence homestead increasing to $426,553 from $397,668.

Consequently, while the rate decreases, the tax on an average residence homestead is proposed to increase by $56.11, or 2.40%.

Your individual taxes may increase at a greater or lesser rate, or even decrease, depending on the tax rate that is adopted and on the change in the taxable value of your property in relation to the change in taxable value of all other property. The change in the taxable value of your property in relation to the change in the taxable value of all other property determines the distribution of the tax burden among all property owners.
